Davy K. Uwizera, is a PhD candidate in data science at Africa Data Center of Excellence in data science doing research on application of machine learning in real time GDP direction monitoring using multidimensional structured and unstructured variables such as transactional and social media generated data. He works at DIL ltd as head of data analytics, business intelligence and R&D.
He is a data scientist and software engineer with expertise in building big data analytics and machine learning based systems. He has led and has been a part of different projects working with financial, telecommunication, health and transport institutions. His research interests include but are not limited to; signal processing, pattern recognition, forensics, macroeconomics and microeconomics. Recently, his research has been focusing specifically in the areas of data mining for transport optimization, image processing using deep neural networks, satellite imagery based predictions, and real-time monitoring of economic activities using big data.
Davy won multiple graduate awards, the student excellence award at Carnegie Mellon University in Msc. in IT and the overall best graduating postgraduate student in the college of business and economics at the University of Rwanda in his Msc. in Economics. He completed a masters program in statistics too at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
